Description

Our challenge at Estifeda is how to bring back the pleasure of reading to children, to encourage them writing and to boost their creativity. Studies agree that the habit of reading is almost lost among children and books are becoming rare on shelves at home. Teachers are noticing the devastating effect on spelling and vocabulary. Pupils struggle to write an essay while their imagination is overflowing. Reading and writing exercises are boring and teaching methods are obsolete! Our EdTech enthusiast team worked with children, teachers and pedagogues. Together, we designed a digital collaborative and intuitive solution for kids to co-create and share e-books. So, we have developed KISSA (Kids Interactive Stories' Studio App), a web-based platform and a mobile application. In 2015, we exhibited our prototype at UNESCO's Mobile Learning Week, where KISSA was used in an international exchange project between France, Spain and Morocco. During 2016, students and teachers in Tunis and Sussa tested KISSA and produced tens of stories. The adventure continues with new associative partnerships and projects. For education, we are now working on KISSA to be used in eTwinning+ projects (twinning program between Tunisian and European schools). Our ambition is to make KISSA the reference platform in Africa and the Middle East. We aim helping Kids to create and publish more than 1,000,000 digital books within 5 years and so to reveal
