BloomMasters First Edition 2017: Social Entrepreneurship Track
TechAbility is a project that seeks an economic, social and environmental impact. It aims to combine three major strengths: traditional crafts, technology and employment of people with disabilities. These people have hard time pursuing their education and find themselves most of the time in crafting workshops. But, the traditional sector sales in Tunisia have been decreasing lately. Our goal is to promote this sector with adding a touch of technology that will make it more attractive. We provide crafts with built-in sensors for temperature, damp, movement and light. These IoT crafts will be connected to a cloud based platform that, through a Messenger Chatbot, will help users monitor the energy efficiency of their workplaces and homes. Being aware of the importance of living in a healthy and eco-friendly environment, we want to raise awareness about the importance of those indicators and help people improve their lifestyle. Our Chatbot service will send real-time notifications about alarming values of temperature, damp or lighting in an empty room. It will also provide users with a monthly report about their energy consumption and the savings they accomplished by adopting an eco-friendly behaviour. Our goal is to reduce the energy bill and ensure to them living in a healthier environment. Our specificity is that this technology will be integrated in traditional crafts made by people with disabilities.
