Nowadays, the disposal of huge amounts of non edible food wastes is one of the most problems of great concern for poultry industries as an example. The recovery of these considerable amounts of solid wastes has become a major challenge for sustainable development. Consequently, the inclusion of chicken feather into valuable materials such as hydrogels or films presents a promising way, which continues to be developed. The main purpose of this work is to develop a new bio-sourced “bio-master” composite materials which could be tuned to fit several applications. Our target applications are packaging and superabsorbent materials used in the baby diapers or sanitary napkins. The product obtained is non-toxic and biodegradable in contrast to what is currently available on the market.
